FIRST BLOOM!

Due to the long winter and unusually cold and rainy spring until the end of May as in large areas of Europe, the season is way behind and most flowers, fruits and cultures are very late this year. So, here is my first oleander bloom on my balcony! :)

so that's an oleander! One of my favourite books when I was little mentioned an oleander and it took on such magical qualities in my mind, it stuck in my memories ... anyway, it's beautiful! And to think you have in a pot on your balcony - do you have those famous green fingers? I don't, lol

Hello Anna.
Great pictures you show of a beautiful oleander.
BEWARE that your cat does not eat it, it is very toxic to cats.

Wish you a good Sunday in the Alps :) Hugs Hanne Bente

Beautiful--looks so much better than mine, which suffer from too much rain.

I love this plant! Here, in Greece, is very common and you can find it with pink or white flowers. We call it "pikrodafni".
Have a good week, my friend! Polla filakia!

You're right about them being everywhere, it's just that I didnt know their name! :D There is not one street or hedge or park that does not have them, maybe they're really sturdy and don't need a lot of attention? Anyway, they're pretty and have a lovely scent! :)

Thank you Hanne Bente! :)
I know, but Zoe isn't interested at all, she never eats any leaves from the plants, just her cat grass! :)
Hugs!

Dawn, my oleanders are sheltered from the rain (we had so much here too!), but they are very late this year...

Thank you Elli! :)
I love the "pikrodafni" and it reminds me so much of Greece! :))
Have a lovely week! Filakia polla!

Hehe Nancy, I thought so! :D I think they are very sturdy and easy, they thrive perfectly around the Mediterranean, here it's not their ideal habitat but still, they make it through the winter. I love their scent too!
