SYMI ON MONDAY

I came back to Rhodes last Monday, in the late afternoon, so I still had a few hours to enjoy the magic of Symi... the amazing blues, the dreamy atmosphere and a stunning sea!

This traditional house in wonderful Aegean blue tones was just across the street from my room!

SYMI: THE FIRST EVENING

Images from the first evening on the dreamy islet of Symi! The sky was a little overcast and the light was magical, as is the atmosphere... In the evening and at night, when the day-trippers coming from Rhodes have left, the island is a real oasis of quietness and peace... the perfect spot for peace-seeking travelers who want to be away from it all... There are only little charming hotels and pensions, no big hotels, no mass tourism, no discos, and the only way to reach the little Dodecanese gem is by sea! Stay tuned for more photos! :)

MY ROOM IN SYMI!

I'm back from Symi with lovely memories and images in my heart! More pics coming in the next days... and for a start, this has been my lovely home during my stay on the tiny island! The nights are so peaceful on Symi... and I felt so safe and sheltered in my adorable room with its blue shutters... I particularly love this room because it's been "my room" each time I've been staying at Stamatia's lovely place!

SYMI TOMORROW!

So tomorrow I will be taking the Dodekanisos Express (high-speed ferry) to Symi! My jewelry exhibition at the Olive Tree Cafe is scheduled on Sunday as a part of the Queen's Jubilee Party, and I will spend a little time on the island and will be back in Rhodes on Monday afternoon. For those of you who haven't seen last year's posts from Symi, here is a preview of the island's views! Symi is an enchanting little island just a few miles off the Turkish coast of Anatolia and quite close to Rhodes too (50 minutes by speed boat). Time seems to stand still here, as mass tourism has never arrived and never will. Wonderful neoclassical houses line the main town's natural harbour, and the white-washed alleys and stairs leading up the hills are just dreamy. The Olive Tree is located in the upper village (Chorio), and it's really more-than-just-a-cafe, as Jenine and Tina offer so much more than lovely drinks and food! They host lots of interesting events, they organize walking tours and even art classes. So this is a great location for my show!
