RHODES' ORIENTAL CHARM

The old Turkish Cemetery is one of my favorite places in Rhodes... it is a magical place of such peace and beauty -- not to mention a home to many sweet kitties and my beloved Zoe's first home!

And it is in the narrow arched alleys of the magical Old Town that Rhodes' "oriental charm" truly comes to life... You feel transported into a magical world where time seems to stand still...

You haven't seen Rhodes if you haven't got "lost" in its magical winding alleys and fallen in their thrall... discovering a charming little hotel hidden away in a peaceful corner...

... a breathtaking view opening up suddenly, and you feel taken away to the Orient...

... and it is at night that the Old Town unveils all its mystery and charm...

now, ruins and old things are just my thing! ...but don't you ever feel tempted to lift one of those stone lids at the cemetary? ;)

Hi Nancy! I love old things and ruins too!!!
I dreamed about becoming an archaeologist... and at University I even took an exam in Egyptology (even if I was studying Languages)! :)
Ehm I must admit I do HAVE a piece from one of these graves, looks like a piece from one of the flowered reliefs on the grave stones... I found it lying all alone on the ground a few years ago... I guess that's not very legal, but who knows what would have happened to that piece -- at least now it's in a loving home! :)
hmmm... no archaeological authorities around I hope...

All the Rhodes pictures were wonderful, but I think this place is my favourite.

I'm definately putting this on my list.
