SAND AND SEA

New earrings inspired by Sand and Sea... The colors of the striped lampwork glass beads suggest the colors of the sand or of a sunset on a little Greek island (makes me think of Symi!), while the sky blue milk glass beads are the same marvelous blue of the crystal clear sea in a little, secluded bay... or the amazing blue sky you will never be able to forget!

Here I have used smaller, faceted glass beads for that touch of blue :)

THEO AND LILLI

Theo is a lovely, "crazy" boy... He is one year and a half old, and he almost never stands still. He plays, jumps, runs in the most funny ways. And when he sleeps, he does that in the most curious, funniest positions!

Here he is sleeping in one of his favorite positions...

And often he likes to join Lilli (the black beauty you see with him) in the basket...

Aren't they just soooo sweet??? Lilli is 3 years and a half old, and she is the sweetest kitty! She loves her twin brother Tommi too (see her cuddling up with him here and here!). She has an eye that she cannot completely open (on photos it looks closed, but it isn't, she can see), it's a little problem she has since her birth, but she's so beautiful all the same! A little soft princess... and as you can see, Theo enjoys her company very much!

WHITE AND BLUE AND TURQUOISE...

I recently re-discovered a pair of vintage earrings (they must be from the 70s), they were made with lovely plastic feather and shell-shaped filigree pieces grouped together and shaped into fan-like clip-on earrings. I thought the single "leafs" and "feathers" would make great earrings and rings when paired with blue glass beads!

So I made some earrings with a little "evil eye"... and a piece that will be a ring, with four little evil eyes (in this case I added tiny white glass beads).

The "feather" pieces were perfect for another ring: I added a beautiful turquoise glass bead, and here is a gorgeous flower! All of them are very "island-ish" and summery! :)

How's that for eco-friendly upcycled, repurposed vintage? :)

LITTLE GREEK ISLANDS

I fell in love with these little beauties as soon as I saw them... I could see the Aegean Sea in them, an Island, the Greek sky... and I felt they were made especially for me! Now I have them in my hand... they are little ceramic cabochons made into magnets, and they are the work of a talented Greek ceramic artist who is currently based in Germany, Stavroula of Werkstaat.

The glazing is amazing and it reminds me of the colors of a lagoon... or a secluded bay with shallow crystal clear water... They could well be stunning rings too -- I will for sure keep an eye on Stavroula's work! :)

Did I make you a tiny bit jealous? Well, just whoosh over to Stavroula's shop Werkstaat and you can be the lucky owner of similar beauties too! :)

New GREEK ISLAND LOVERS Team Challenge: SUMMER SUNSET!

The new Greek Island Lovers Team Challenge is up and running!
The lovely theme, picked by our previous Challenge winner Tatiana from ILaBoom, is… SUMMER SUNSET! This makes for a lot of possible variations! Feel inspired by the colors of a beautiful summer sunset on a Greek Island!

These are the rules for Team members for entering the challenge:
- It would be nice if you created a new item for this challenge, but if you don’t have time and/or you already have an item in your Etsy shop that fits the theme, it’s ok too!
- Convo me with the link to your listing;
- Last day for entering the challenge is Friday, 2 March 2012.

I will post the Challenge entries under this post, and the entries will be juried by an external, non-member Greek Island Lover, who will pick the winner. The winner will be announced on both my blog and our Team thread, and he/she will have the honor to pick our next Challenge theme and the possibility to publish a guest post about his/her favourite Island on my blog!
Thank you and I hope to get lots of beautiful entries!!!
Happy creating!
